Inspiration

A playset designed with inspiration from the 1970s and a desire for a simply functioning toy with lovable play features. Children can learn retail-related skills by running their mini-flower shop out of a vintage van. As Montessori Toys made of wood have become popular, I designed a basic wooden model for

young girls ages 5-10.

Trend Forecasting: Montessori toys

Construction

Measured and mapped out layout, cut out windows and doors with a jigsaw, sanded edges with a mouse sander, glued sides with wood glue, used clamps to apply pressure.

Cut out wheels with circle cutter, constructed axels, and added hinges to doors.

Molding

Utilized wood filler as molding for wheel wells, doors, and bumpers. Shaped roof edges with dremel and hand-sanded to smooth rough edges.

Painting

Painted body of bus with acrylic paint. Added details with posca pens.

Decorating

Constructed folding shelf and overhang with hinges. Hand-sewed awning. Made flowers out of felt.

Hand-stitched basket and sewed petals together. Hot glued flowers into place.
