Made With Care
A display of deliciously sculpted sushi prepared by our friendly canine chef. Our conveyor belt is designed to keep the food coming while you sit back, relax, and grab whatever delicacy you desire. Our sous-chef in the back keeps our sushi fresh and any cams and cranks tuned.

Construction
Cut parts on a table saw. Constructed the box using plywood, wood glue, and clamps. Drilled holes to install roller ball bearings. Tested rotating the belt until it revolved smoothly. Added teardrop-shaped cams for cutting motion with arms.
Character Creation
Shaped the figure with a Dremel. Drilled arm holes and attached arms with string. Painted character with gouache paint and hand-sewed uniform.
Sushi Making
Rolled up layers of Polymer Clay then cut off slices to create sushi. Made plates out of flattened clay.
First Version
Created a wall around the belt with sticks and made shoji screens from tissue paper and thin wood planks. Sewed curtains and attached the chef’s arm to a cam.
Redesign
Redesigned aesthetics of automata over the summer. Constructed a roof with shingles and redid a wall around the conveyor belt. Added paneling to the box and used wood stain.
